These Yoga Mats and Rubber Mats will have you Standing on your Head
...l. Youll find them in many vibrant colors such as pink, blue, lavender and many others. Most bags have convenient front pockets for keys, wallets, etc. Complete with an adjustable shoulder strap, this is almost a must when transporting yoga mats to and from the studio. Another useful tool is blocks. When it comes to yoga blocks, they are super strong and will support your full body weight. They arent mushy like a lot of foam products. They are lightweight and easy to use, and can offer you stability and support for proper alignment. Folded blankets are used to sit and lie on during class and act as props. As an example, assume you are sitting in a cross-legged position. It is comforting to place a blanket under your sit bones, as this will elevate the hips above the knees. Youll find that they come in handy for all sorts of things during your session, and if the studio is cold you can cover yourself during the final relaxation at the end of the class. The yoga blocks are like blankets and can be used to make yourself more comfortable and improve your alignment. They are great for standing poses in which your hands don't reach the floor.

Make sure that you have a full understanding of what your qualifications will be after taking a particular yoga course.
* Is cost and time a factor for me? On-site yoga certification courses typically require you to be available for the duration of the course (usually around two to three weeks). For working people, this may be di...more
Can a Yoga Prop Help 'Prop' Up Your Practice?
...Some people may wonder if using a yoga prop can help them get more out of their practice. My personal opinion is yes.
B.K.S. Iyengar introduced the yoga prop as a means of supporting proper alignment of the joints and bones during postures. Maintaining proper alignment is key to reducing the possibility of injury and to allowing you to get deeper into the poses. Props are especially useful for beginners, for people who do not have a great deal of flexibility, for those who are recovering from injuries, and for those with special physical needs.
